Tom Brady opens up about mother’s battle with breast cancer: ‘She’s doing really well’

Tom Brady has opened up about his mother’s battle with breast cancer, after she was diagnosed with breast cancer two years ago.

The New England Patriots star – who’s been married to model Gisele Bündchen since 2009 – spoke to as he promoted his latest book, The TB12 Method, and praised his mother for her strength throughout her medical issues.

‘She’s doing really well,’ the 40-year-old sportsman said. ‘I think any family that has dealt with cancer realises the challenge it is not only at that moment, but as it continues to be.’

Galynn was pictured during her treatment celebrating Tom’s epic Super Bowl victory in February 2017, when the Patriots defeated the Falcons 34-28.

‘I think she’s got so much appreciation for the people who have supported her,’ Tom said. ‘She’s such a wonderful woman and she’s been so positive through it all and we’ve been so proud of her.’

Galynn’s cancer diagnosis was confirmed last year when Patriots owner Robert Kraft revealed the star’s mother had undergone chemotherapy and radiation throughout the 2016 American football season.

Last year she opened up about her illness in an interview with NFL Network’s Andrea Kremer.

She said: ‘I remember sitting in the doctor’s office and them telling me, “You have breast cancer and it’s only stage two”.’

She added about attending the 2017 game: ‘I think there’s a special bond between a mother and a son. I just wanted to be there for Tommy, and I wanted to be there with our family. Everybody was going to the Super Bowl and I didn’t want to miss that.’

Tom’s update on his mother comes as he promotes his latest project.
