Andy Murray has a bit of a reputation in the public eye for being… a bit serious.

So he’d be one of the more unlikely sporting icons that you’d probably peg on taking part in a comedy skit for Sports Relief with Michael McIntyre.

More than likely you would be right, but that seems to have played into the comedian’s hands as apparently even the tennis star, 30, had no idea he’d be picked to do something for the charity special.

And while you’ve got to feel sorry for Andy, the actual result is hilarious – cue a camera crew and comedian bursting into his hotel room in the middle of the night.

Bringing back Michael’s much-loved Midnight Gameshow for a sketch that will air during the Sport Relief 2018 evening show, the comic surprises Andy at his training camp.

Taking months in the planning, and with the help of Andy’s team and family (no Christmas presents for those guys this year, we’re guessing), Michael surprised the unsuspecting Knight of The Realm in St George’s Park, London.

Michael crept into the room with a camera crew and proceeded to scare the sh*t out of  Andy by waking him up to take part in the game show.

Screaming a series of expletives, the Scottish star was given the shock of his life as the lights went on – though he managed to recover.

Once he’d got through the ordeal Andy said: ‘When I went to sleep, Michael McIntyre was the last person I expected to see at the foot of my bed in the middle of the night!

‘Once I got over the initial shock and managed to wake up, I had fun and it is great that it will help to raise money for such a good cause.’

Michael seemed relieved to hear that the tennis star had taken it all in his stride, saying: ‘The minute the idea was mentioned I knew we had to make this happen. Probably the most challenging Midnight Gameshow we’ve done yet but it was so worth it.

‘Thankfully Andy saw the funny side and he was a great sport throughout. I can’t wait for everyone to see it.’

Sport Relief 2018 will air on 23 March this year, from 7pm on One.
